Mossad built that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The #Mossad takeover of popular #Webmail It turns out that the output of a whois query is dependent on the specifics of the whois version used. Aint that strange? It is derived from and compatible with the usual BSD and RIPE whois(1) programs. It is intelligent and can automatically select the appropriate whois server for most queries. [jackson:stock]:(~)$ When checking with linux.it/~md/software/ one is referred to : ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/w/whois/ But ehh, how strange, whois-4.7.13.tar.gz is not listed there anymore. More specific, a whole range of whois versions from 2006 and 2005 have been removed. That is all versions between whois-4.7.5 and whois-4.7.20. It turns out that most PEOPLE on my local linux maillinglist could not reproduce the below whois querys and got only a single whois server listed. For yahoo they then only got whois.markmonitor as a valid answer. So whats going on here?
