Mossy Head, Draper Lake and the Walton County Fair Association is a big winner in the State budget: Walton County has been awarded several appropriations for local projects in the State Budget signed today by Governor Rick Scott. With the signing of the budget, the following projects have received appropriations from the state: 1. Mossy Head Wastewater Treatment Facility - $4.4 Million a. Support the construction of a wastewater treatment facility in the Mossy Head Industrial Park that will serve the Industrial Park, the Mossy Head Elementary School, residential areas and commercial facilities in the rural Mossy Head area. 2. Mossy Head Industrial Park Infrastructure Improvements – $3 Million a. Provide for Industrial Park completion to include roads, stormwater and utilities. 3. Draper Lake Culvert Replacement - $623,000 a. Replace the old and failing culvers with a bridge span. The upgrade would increase safety and restore the hydrology of the lake. The reconnection would restore habitat and improve the natural function of the lake by re-establishing the natural flow and circulation of the lake as well as allow wildlife to access the northern portion of the lake. 4. Walton County Fairgrounds - $750,000 a. Will provide for capital improvements and renovations to the Walton County Fairgrounds complex.
