Most African countries which were under colonial rule refer to - TopicsExpress

Most African countries which were under colonial rule refer to their first President after colonial rule as The first President of Ghana/Tanzania/Burkina Faso etc because they never recognized the Leaders during colonial rule as Presidents and they renamed their countries to either their original names or names suited to the people of that nation. In South Africa we refer to Nelson Mandela as the 1st Democratic President os SA, meaning he is not the 1st President of SA. It is because the ANC chose to continue with the system, to transform and reform it instead of abolish it. They chose to keep the name, the institutions and celebrate the legacy of Dr. Verwoed. I choose to be steadfast in my view that whatever good story to tell there is... It is an even greater story for those who beneffited from apartheid. #SonOfAzania #PeopleOfTheSouth
