Most Canadians are unaware that Parliament Hill sits on unceded - TopicsExpress

Most Canadians are unaware that Parliament Hill sits on unceded Algonquin land. The House of Commons, the Senate, and the Supreme Court of Canada make laws for all Canadians while situated on land that was never lawfully purchased from the aboriginal owners, contrary to formal legal rules established in 1763. Please understand I have no issue with the monument itself - my problem is where it is being built > on UNCEDED Algonquin territory. So you steal land from folks, more and more as the years go by, then try to wipe them out (read: genocide) - a task the Canadian government is far from done with despite the Supreme Court of Canada handing down many rulings trying to return their rights and lands and monies to them (rulings our government has simply ignored with seemingly no consequence) - and then throw it in their faces after a few hundred years of abuse they are still struggling against by deciding to erect a monument on their land and without their permission in memory of the a genocide that happened in another land. While still denying the ongoing horrors right here at home. And ignoring their rights to their own land once again. Absolutely disgusting. Come on, fellow Canadians, our government is NOT reflecting our values or our desires for our life, the life of our country or the life of the world at large. Let us not stand for this any longer from those who are supposedly in our employ. Together we are the power. Together we can create the world beautiful. Gratitude and Solidarity.
