What Job was saying was, “Even though it seems like God is breaking His own Word with me, even though God kills me contrary to all His promises, I’ll still trust Him.” If you’re only going to be willing to believe and obey God as long as everything goes right, you won’t be believing or obeying very much, because a lot of things can seem to go wrong when you’re serving the Lord. “Many are the afflictions of the righteous,” the Bible tells us, “but the Lord delivers him out of them all. ~ James 4:7-10 ~ So humble yourselves before God. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. Let there be tears for what you have done. Let there be sorrow and deep grief.
