Most Foochows do not like Pi jiu tong tong people. This is a metaphor for people to like to take advantage of others, take things from others, and get more than a good share of peoples food etc..Free lunch for example. The other day a friend set up a business meeting with a towkay and a friend heard about it. He instead of just coming alone, brought three of his freinds. The dinner set back the poor kindly towkay by almost three hundred. Another incident was this. Two good friends from overseas came back for a holiday, and a long nose friend walked by. He sat down with the two guys, being acquaintances many years ago. They had already ordered kopi 0 and some toasts, he ordered half a chicken, two Tsingtao and some noodles..An old pain in the neck neigbhour my mother had at one time - she never had sugar, salt, eggs and oil in her house. She borrowed them from my mum for more than 10 years. It was a long relationship we children grew up with. Mum was so stoical about it and never said a single word.
