Most Recent Update Good Morning, With only one more week to go I hope everyone is ready for the Christmas holidays and some warm weather. Please find below some updates for the skate and BMX register group for the end of 2014. Scarborough Satellite Facility The Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority (MRA) have not yet announced the release of the Scarborough Master Plan. I am still keeping an eye out for any release of information and will notify this group when possible. At this point we are anticipating more information early in 2015. Further information can be found on the City’s website: stirling.wa.gov.au/development/Projects/Pages/Scarborough-Redevelopment.aspx. Princess Wallington Satellite Facility and Woodlands Incidental Facility The City is continuing to progress these projects and are looking to commence community consultation and design in the first half of 2015. Watch this space! Carine Skatepark An upgrade to the Carine Skatepark was identified as Stage C in the Skate and BMX Strategy (Strategy) and is not yet scheduled to commence. However, community feedback identified potential amenity requirements to improve the use of the skatepark in the interim. The City is currently considering the inclusion of support amenity such as seating, shade, signage and a drink fountain. These works are anticipated to start in early 2015 with more information being provided closer to the date. Local Government Reform As some of you may be aware, on the 22 October 2014, the Minister for Local Government Tony Simpson announced changes to the City of Stirling as part of his model for metropolitan local government reform. The areas lost to the City include Inglewood, Mount Lawley, Churchlands, Herdsman and parts of Dianella, Yokine, Menora, Wembley and Wembley Downs. The boundary changes will come into effect on 1 July 2015. The impact on the Skate and BMX Facility Strategy is that the Dianella Regional Open Space Facility and the Facility adjacent the Terry Tyzack Aquatic Centre (TTAC) are in an area of the City of Stirling that, as a result of the State Government’s Local Government Reform process, will be transferred to the City of Bayswater as of 1 July 2015. As such, the City of Stirling is holding a record of enquiries for distribution to the City of Bayswater along with the Strategy. The timeframe of communication to the Bayswater is as I understand still being determined however the City will ensure that all relevant documents and community communication is transferred. This will not have an immediate impact on the Strategy’s Implementation as the Dianella and TTAC locations were prioritised as stage C & D. As such we will continue to progress the Strategy with focus on the current budgeted projects and re-consider any potential gaps in the Strategy when possible. For information on the Local Government Reform, please refer to the City’s website at stirling.wa.gov.au. Your continued support and involvement over the past year has been greatly appreciated. With 2015 looking to be a busy year for the Strategy’s outcomes, I’m eager to further progress these projects. If you have any further queries please don’t hesitate to contact me and I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Sincerely, Natasha Nicholson Project Officer - Community Recreation Facilities
