Most believe that when countries, organizations or volunteers work together, towards a common cause, the task that once resembled an unscalable mountain, now appears climbable. The International Violence against Women Act was one such cause. Nonprofit organizations: Amnesty International, Women Thrive Internal and The Future Without Violence came together to help establish the International Violence Against Women Act. This act is also as known as (I-VAWA) (S.2279, HR. 5927).Wiki Amnesty International USA reports that this act was introduced to ensure that addressing violence against women is included in the nations foreign policy, with best practices for preventing violence, protecting victims and prosecuting offenders. Many sources including the United Nations Development Fund for Women(UNIFEM), report that 1 in 3 women worldwide have been the victim abused. Volunteers are an integral factor in helping nonprofit organizations protect and provide safe havens for the abused mother and her children.
