Most experts will recognize both strengths and weaknesses within one training modality. No one training modality can cover everything and anything. Being hooked on one format only limits possibilities rather than extending them. And for coaches, a client’s “needs state” must always be addressed, but must also be balanced with what the client wants. Often what a client wants will not be what they need, but involving other training modalities can be a way around that. You will always have experts who prefer one method over another and can debate why, but what you also get now from real experts is an open mind to include other training modalities within the one they practice/use. However it still must fit the needs of the client or athlete and not be all over the place within program design. Not every program can accomplish everything. You can’t be an Olympic lifter and long distance runner. While this is obvious some trainers like to create something crazy that’s inefficient and time wasting.
