Most of my fb contacts will already know about this - since most of you are family :)- but for those who dont and might have missed it previously, please take the time to read and share this info about my 10 year old nephew Finns project to help other kids in detention on Nauru: There are 179 kids locked up on Nauru - and another 305 on Christmas Island who may well end up in Nauru too. These kids are there through no decision of their own - they are children, just like our kids, just like Finn. By all accounts these are not places you would want your own children to be - or anyone elses for that matter. When you are a kid you cant do much about politics - you cant stop people locking you up and you cant stop other kids being locked up either. But if you are lucky enough to be an Australian child - free to go to school, free to go to the footy, free to go to the beach, free to read a book any time you like, free to play and free follow your ideas and dreams - you CAN help the kids behind the razor wire who dont get to do any of those things. That is what Finn is doing. He is raising money for and organizing a playground to be built for the children on Nauru. Because Everyone Deserves to Play. This is his idea, his project. He has the full support of his school, his family and his friends and with their help he is determined to make it happen. It would be wonderful if he could have your support too. You can help directly through donations, by organising an activity or fundraiser, by passing this info on to people or businesses who can help, or just by SHARING this post far and wide. Regardless of your position on asylum seekers, politics, or off- shore detention - every kid deserves to be able to have fun and play.
