Most of my improv colleagues convey their humor through the spontaneously of the verbal reaction and wit. The clever repertoire of the verbal spare is pretty fluent in american improv. Hooray. But I always felt that my style of improv is based by the visual. I am kinda of an odd duck in this sense. because I find that my brain is constantly aware of the stage picture I show when I am improvising. I am aware of who can see me, what my body language is saying. How I can alter a perceptive of a character to get an audience reaction. And convey emotional content base on where I place myself from the audience perceptive and my distance from my on stage partners. In fact a lot of what i do is based on studying film directors. Like Alfred Hitchcock Wes Anderson and this man Edgar Wright. I find, that at least for me American Improv, is mainly about what you say and what the other person says back. You can see it in about 90% of our film comedies. which is fine. This video explores how visual comedy works using Edgar Wrights films as example among a few others. Now just because this is film doesnt mean that we cant explore how visual comedy in improv can be effective. enjoy R Kevin Garcia Doyle Alissa Joy Lee
