Most of our work this week was much the same as last - TopicsExpress

Most of our work this week was much the same as last week. Superheater bundle welding continued. Approximately half of the units have been fabricated. Flexible staybolt sleeve welding will be continued this coming week. The cab was removed to gain access to those sleeves not yet welded which are adjacent to the cab. We will also begin the installation of the electrical conduit in the cab. All of these parts have been cleaned, old wiring removed and the parts repainted. The machinists are still cutting and machining brake pin bushings. All of the originals are badly worn on one side of the bushing. Some parts have been heat treated and returned to us. Various brake arms are being removed to press out the old bushings. Work on the many lubrication lines continue as compressed air is forced through those lines clearing them of old oil and debris. President Mike and Jon, our Safety Officer, presented another New Member Orientation on Saturday. These classes are presented throughout the year for those who are interested in the restoration project. The next one wont be until February or March of 2015. Welcome aboard to those that have been through the class. After speaking with the volunteers present this past week it was decided the site will be open for work Saturday. We also worked today at the site. We hope to see everyone this week and Gail and I wish each of you a Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! And as always... Keep on Steamin, Rick Kirby CMO, NMSL & RHS
