Most of the trash and debris is gone from the Cape Fair area and the water color is back to a good old green. They day time bass fishing is some what spotty as the bass are slipping into thier summer patterns. There is still some legal size bass on the banks and bushes and of course "short fish" fish as well. Some of the guys have been throwing jerk baits and spooks right up on the bank and pulling them beside some brush cover and then just shaking them until a bass comes out of the bushes. For some reason the bass are more aggressive coming out of the bushes than they are when a jig is flipped in the bush. Crank baits are coming into their own as the bass move deeper off the banks. The water temps with this hot weather have move up into the high seventies and the lake is dropping slowly back to normal pool. Our Wednesday Amateur and Spring Sunday open tournaments are wrinding down with the fish-offs coming for the Wednesday tournament on the 26th of this month and the Sunday fish off on the 30th of June. Some of you guys fishing these tournaments still need just one tournament more to make the fish off, so get on the ball! I am putting together a short 7 week tournament counting the fish-off for the summer months of July and August. They will start July 14th and end August 25, 2013, which will be the fish off. Each team will need to fish 3 tournaments to make the fish, not counting the 25th as one. It will be called the Sunday Early Sunrise Open Buddy Bass tournament and the entry fee will be $40.00 dollars per team or boat with two side pots of $10.00 each if you want to enter them. Take off will be at 6:00 a.m. and weight-in will be at 12:00 (noon). This will be a (3) three fish limit total per boat and we will also pay one in three places, which should make for some really tight and close total weights and give everybody a chance at winning and or placeing, plus we have to be very careful with the bass we catch to make sure they survive to be released. If this sounds good to you bass fishermen, then come on down on the 14th!
