Most of us know that the history of St. Patricks Day derives from the early Catholic Priest attempting to run the Pagans out of Ireland. The snakes were a derogatory term for those with Pagan beliefs. In light of what the holiday originally stood for it makes it difficult for us to enjoy the festivities of the day, even if you are Irish. If you are Pagan and do want to celebrate, this may give you a valid reason. March 17th was supposedly chosen as St. Patricks Day because its the day the horrible priest died. So tip one back in honor of our Mother Earth being rid of the evil old man who did everything he could to eradicate what we believe in.
