Most of us know the famous quotation from Rabbi Hillel the elder: “If I am not for myself, then who will be for me? And if I am only for myself, then what am I? And if not now, when?” Confronted with the challenges of the Obama administration, we often want to remind left-leaning American Jews about the first injunction. If this article is representative Jews on the Left believe we actually have more work to do on the second prong. Persuaded?
