Most of use the term, I love you at some time or times of our life. Have you ever asked yourself what you mean when you say it? In my 80+ years I have toiled with that word and its meaning, sometimes felt forced to use it , then felt guilty for it. When young people ask me to explain love. The fist thing I think of is: There are as many different loves as there are people who love and among those there are endless kinds and degrees of love, so, love experiences are like grains of sand on a beach. It is a worthy question, however and it deserves and answer, except that it is one of those questions that cannot be answered precisely because of the number of variables. Love is manifested in millions of different ways and degrees. I love all my children, but each one of them is different and unique. Some of them are particularly adept at some particular thing that another is not. But when it all boils down to an evaluation, I cannot measure with an accuracy what attributes are better. I know which one seems to be the most intelligent. Another is very humble and sincere, and another is so pensitive and philosophical. I think one of them is the best father and the best family man, but Im not sure because I dont have the tools to evaluate them all. Sometimes you can measure your children by the way their children, your grandchildren behave. All of this falls into the category of love which has nothing to do with romantic love which is divided into ages and stages in life and, of course, circumstances. I began loving females at a ridiculously early age. I believe this was unnatural and emotional beyond recognition. No one, not even I knew how emotionally disturbed I was. So, my love evaluations were all somewhat distorted by it. But, as I tell you this, it is necessary to keep in mind I have a lot of training in psychology and because of it, am able to recognize abnormalities more efficiently than most people. I dont say this to brag it is just part of my training. I would like to form a discussion group of people interested in exploring self. To look into aspects of ourselves we have ignored before. It is good and it is fun to explore with others with the understanding that we might not have he answers but we can share ideas, cant we? We can go as deep into our personalities as we want or we can stay as shallow as we think safe. If any of you are intersted call me at: 805-488-1545.
