Most of you have seen Heidis amazing transformation we posted earlier today which has sparked many people to ask: How long did that take? So I thought I (Kelly) would give you all a run down of how we work at Shredded and the time frame it took to get her to win her first Fitness Model Competition ever. Heidi first came to see me for her Initial Consultation at Shredded in April 2013. Her number 1 Goal was to Get Healthy and Feel stronger and that is all we focused on!! I decided Heidi would be best suited to train with one of our SSI Coaches Deirdre Hinton Strength Coach and the two hit it off immediately! In the first 8 months Heidi was with us, she lost 16.2% Body fat. When starting with us, Heidi had some MAJOR health issues (watch the video below which is a REPOST from December 2013) so again our NUMBER 1 focus was to focus on exercise and nutrition for better health management. Heidi trained with Deirdre weekly, and saw me for Monthly follow ups to tweak her nutrition, supplementation and programs. I also took steps to make sure we checked over Heidis overall health, going over her blood reports and lab tests. From this explanation you can see that the decision to enter a Fitness Model Competition was not a priority. In fact, it is quite common that when people who see me for their Initial Consultation tell me that they want to do a Bikini comp, or enter a Fitness Model Competition, I usually deter them, unless they are in a state of complete health first. We never want to deter people from reaching their goals, but a persons NUMBER 1 GOAL should be to chase health. If you CHASE health, results will follow, and results will be EASY. As my business partner Marty Williams says so well, you should never FORCE results, gently coax them. This is EXACTLY what Heidi did. It was only at the end of December that I received an email from Deirdre her Coach with a periodised plan of how her and Heidi were going to work towards entering the INBA. Heidi took a holiday to Bali and from January to May (4 months) we concentrated on getting Heidi contest ready. Because she was at a state of health by now, we didnt have to FORCE anything. Training sessions were tough, but there was NO long cardio, NO FASTED training, NO sessions lasting longer than an hour and she didnt have to get up at a ridiculous time to train. (Remember health is our priority, REST is as important as training!) We also INCREASED CALORIES and increased CARBS, working on a specialised plan that suited Heidis lifestyle and training schedule. Being a member at Shredded, Heidi also had the support of the ENTIRE Shredded team, and we can all attest that it is a PLEASURE having Heidi train in our facility. So in a nutshell, it took Heidi 8 months to get to a position before we agreed she could do a comp, and from there it took 4 months to concentrate on doing the Comp Prep safely and effectively with no stress on the body. This was NO QUICK FIX, this was a LIFESTYLE change. The before and after photos we posted this morning were 1 YEAR apart. 1 YEAR of SENSIBLE nutrition and training. So to all those who look in the mirror and think nothings changing, remember a slower process is often a healthier process! COAX, dont FORCE. . . .and the results will be LASTING. Thank you again to Heidi for your trust in the Shredded process, and for the hard work and dedication shown by both you and your amazing Coach Deirdre!!! Progress photos in comment below. :-) Love, Kelly XX
