Most pastors attempt to pass off monetary tithing as the Word of - TopicsExpress

Most pastors attempt to pass off monetary tithing as the Word of God. They assert that 10% of our monetary incomes should be devoted to God regardless of the circumstances. At best monetary tithing is a concocted legalistic tradition taught by men. It is a tradition that contravenes, nullifies, and profanes the veracity of the Word of God. Todays fabricated doctrine of tithing is likened to the Pharisees exploitation of Corban … which is something devoted to God. That said, lets examine the following passage: And he continued, You have a fine way of setting aside the commands of God in order to observe your own traditions! For Moses said, Honor your father and mother, and, Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death. But you say that if anyone declares that what might have been used to help their father or mother is Corban (that is, devoted to God)-- then you no longer let them do anything for their father or mother. Thus you nullify the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And you do many things like that. (Mark 7:9-13) The Greek word Corban is connected to the word Korbanas. According to Strongs Concordance, Korbanas means Treasury, Temple Treasury. According to the tradition of the Pharisees, they would dedicate a specific portion of their financial resources to the temple treasury; and thus, this designated part was made illegal for any other purpose. It should be clear that there is little to no distinction between Corban and todays version of monetary tithing. The Word of God says that we are to honor our parents. The passage above firmly states that if we have funds needed by our parents, but we neglect them for the purpose of paying monetary tithes devoted to the church, then we are following the same steps as the Pharisees. We are claiming that our money is Corban; and Christ explained that we are nullifying the Word of God by observing a perverted human tradition. First Timothy 5:8 states: If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. While pro-tithing preachers are alleging that the first 10% of our monetary incomes should be paid to the church storehouse; God is saying that the necessities of the family take priority with Him before the needs of a pastor or church building. Leaders in the church who subscribe to this wicked and selfish tactic represent the epitome of callousness. While they claim respect for the Word of God, by their controlling and stage-managed dogmas, they demonstrate contempt for unassailable doctrine.
