Most people I imagine have special places which evoke happy memories of their childhood. One of mine was the broad pavement area in front of the boat inn on Trent road. This was a gathering for the boys and girls of an evening before we were called in ( under protest of course). Here we played football with a tennis ball and whip and top etc. the street lamp was a magnet on a dark evening from where we played our games ( the names of which I now forget). There wasnt much inclusion of girls then until we reached a certain age and then these games seemed too young for us. See the photo as it is now ( my brother and dog in shot). Anyone else care to share their local childhood favourite places?
