Most people are very aware that I am very anti-racism, and whether people choose to see it or not, racism still exists, sadly....I choose to love everyone as Christ has commanded me to do. Love is a choice. That is the only big thing He asks of us in the New Testament, and I do not think it is such a tall order, but it is not always an easy one. It does not mean that I always LIKE what people DO, but I do love them as my brother or sister in Christ, Lately, I feel as if people expect you to pick sides and I just dont work that way. I support what my heart tells me to, basically, because I know Christ lives in my heart, so why not just trust that and go with it? I can feel empathy for Eric Garner and his family, and at the same time, feel that same empathy for these 2 NYPD officers that were murdered yesterday and their families and loved ones. I do not have a chosen side as some seem to these days. We need police officers because God knows what would become of us without them. We need to appreciate them. We also need them to be on the up and up and to honor the oath they have taken. Its not a perfect world and as with anything, when humans are involved, it is going to get wonky at times. My prayer is this: Let the hate STOP, let the violence cease...Let peace begin with me. We are a multi-cultural society and we need to learn to appreciate that and accept it. The white way is not always the right way!! Racism is stupid when you think about it. Just plain stupid. Call me a fence straddler or accuse me of having white guilt because I love my black brothers and sisters in Christ and want things to improve between the races, I dont really care. I have heard it all before, believe me. God knows my heart.
