Most people do not know what insulin pumps are, and when visible, they bring a ton of attention and questions to those wearing them. They are worn 24/7 to provide life saving insulin to those with type 1 diabetes. There are also many discriminatory attitudes about type 1 diabetes. Its an autoimmune disease and is not caused by eating candy or being overweight or sedentary. Im so glad Sierra was able to show off her pump to the world and bring awareness to so many people who watch Miss America! Miss Idaho is the winner in my book!
