Most people dont know that I have a condition called Chiari Malformation. Some days it is a challenge just getting out of bed. Sometimes the pain is enough to render you useless. There are moments of blindness, and the depths of depression knows no bounds. There are times you are forced into seclusion, into the darkness for light and noise can render you into a quivering ball of mess, a pain that seems endless. You know there is no solace, for there is no cure. Treatment and surgery feel futile, for if it works, its but only momentarily. However, I will not let this stop me. You see, all of this does happen but it is I who has Chiari, Chiari doesnt have ME. I am human, I am a woman, I am Boston Strong. I am southern. I am relentlessly stubborn, but I am not Chiari. I am a passion laden writer. My body may feel useless, but my hope will not waiver, will never fade or flicker from the tournament of my body. Im still here, dancing on the inside. I am full of love, full of promise, relentlessly striving for success, by which ever measure it may be. I am Kristin, I am mom. I am me.
