Most people heading west towards Albuquerque decided early on - TopicsExpress

Most people heading west towards Albuquerque decided early on today to stay put since apparently the roads are still snow-packed and icy from winter storm Boreas. Here in Littlefield, we got about 6 inches of snow. Hello, winter! I wanted to check out from the hotel by noon and drive and see for myself how far I can go despite the advice from the Weather Channel :). But I also wanted to take a 30-min nap first, since I still have at least a 16-hour drive before me. Well, 30-min turned into 2 1/2 hours with the snooze button as my friend :). I was more tired than I realized. Or maybe, subconsciously, I didnt really want to drive in this freezing weather :). I finally decided to stay in and order pizza and watch movies! No hurry to go back to Utah. A co-resident is seeing patients for me this week and I can just work on writing my research paper. Littlefield, TX only sees significant snow accumulation 2-3 times a year. I must say that last night was my worst winter driving experience ever, crawling at 10-15 mph for at least an hour in a 75 mph highway with heavy snowfall and poor visibility. My little Prius was surprisingly steady. I dont think I slid once even when other cars were fishtailing. But then again, I was really driving slow. I am very grateful for the unexpected adventures and misadventures in life. I cant really say that my life has been boring :).
