Most people living in Nambour and surrounds probably dont know that this part of Nambours history still remains. These photos were taken about ten years back before the weir was wrecked in a huge flood. When the timber weir was destroyed the Council were in two minds about repairing it but because of pressure from the public they built a loose rock wall that is still there today. The weir backs the water up to the Arundell Ave Bridge and its quite deep for a long way back. There are more Platypus in there than other parts of the creek and if it hadnt been repaired the water level would have dropped several feet, destroying their habitat. The fourth photo is of the old Pump House that the mill used before the town water arrived. For the benefit of those folk who dont know it there is a nice walk along Petrie Creek, just behind Sundale between Hospital Road and the lower end of Carter Road.
