Y., FRIDAY EVENING, SEPTEMBER 9, 195S The first Catholic high school classes started in Bennington, Vt., this week with an enrollment of 75 in the ninth grade, or first year of high school in the system. According to present plans a new grade will be added each year until the four year curriculum is reached. This years classes will be held in St. Francis de Sales Academy pending completion of a new high school building which it is expected will be ready for next year. Rev. Gerald M. Brennan is principal and Rev. Francis M. Holland, assistant principal, and they will teach religion, health and civic courses. Other members of the faculty include one other priest, two nuns and two lay persons. The other priest is Rev. Leo W. Gorman, CSC, of the Holy Cross novitiate at Bennington, who will teach two Latin classes. The sisters, formerly on the faculties of parochial high schools in Rutland and Brattleboro, other instructors. Leo Plourde Jr. former Bennington High School sports star, and former instructor at St. Michaels College, Winooski, Vt., will be instructor in physical education, and Mrs. Dolores Finkle of the nursing staff of Putnam Memorial Hospital, will teach h e a l t h and physical education for girls. Miss Barbara Taylor of Bennington will be school secretary.
