Most vegans would agree that killing an animal for food is no less immoral whether the animal is large or small. If each life is sacred, and holds just as much value as another, how do you justify this? Furthermore, if one takes the position that all large scale farming is immoral as it necessitates the killing of millions of small animals for the production of plant foods, then one has a much bigger moral quandary on their hands. Large scale farming is principally responsible for the incredible growth of the human population in the 20th and 21st century. If we stop all large scale farming, it logically follows that millions if not billions of human animals will die of starvation as a result.
