Mosul, the second-largest city in Iraq, is near Nineveh, once a powerful city of the ancient world. Christian families fled Mosul this month after the al Qaeda splinter group issued an ultimatum to Iraqi Christians living there: Convert to Islam, pay a fine or face death by the sword. ISIS has blown up several Sunni holy sites in the last few weeks in Mosul.Last month, it destroyed seven Shiite places of worship in the predominantly Shiite Turkmen city of Tal Afar, about 31 miles (50 kilometers) west of Mosul, Human Rights Watch has reported, citing local sources. My take: My question is this, which Islamic sect does ISIS expects infidels to convert to. You convert to Sunni and you become a shooting duck for the Shiite fighters. You convert to Sunni and you are summarily executed by the Sunni soldiers of ISIS. Imagining the atmosphere in which a Muslim lives in the middle east is like watching the series OZ. What would happen next you dont know. The rule is not to predict or assume. What in the DNA of an Arab man that made him to be violent and bloodthirsty? If you consider the festival of Ashuura for example, you cant but be bemused at a people that can cut themselves with swords and that include children. This they do in memory of the first Imam and son of one of the caliph of the prophet (SAW). No nation self inflict like the Arab. We need at every point in time to be able to separate the inherent violent nature of an average Arab man from the religious duty and worship as expected of all Muslims in the Quran and Hadith! HAPPY EIDEL-FITR to my lovely Muslim brothers and friends and families.
