Moth update - The good news is that his blood results were pretty good for his age. His liver was a bit low but that is probably related to his other problems. He had some nasty spurs which had cut into his mouth and it was bleeding. He also had some old ulcer scars on his tongue so he has had dentals in the past, so someone must have cared once. He had both peg teeth removed, but one broke off so will grow back. But he will need regular dentals so it can easily be removed again. He has a badly infected tear duct. They tried to flush it but it was completely blocked. So he has to go back in 5 days time to try again. Skull x-rays showed his tooth roots are bad especially his upper ones. They found a lump in his chin, which they initially thought might be an abscess but there was no pus present. It looks like it is an inflamed lymph node. They were going to do a FNI but Moth started to struggle to breath so they had to bring him round. He is on pain relief, and antibiotic eye drops, also baytril for any infection in his mouth. The lymph node will also be reassessed in 5 days. The hope is that it is related to his eye/teeth and the baytril will fix it. If not we need to do further investigation. To top it all off he has mites so needs treatment for that and will continue to be kept well away from the rest of our rabbits. So the best hope is that we can get him comfortable with daily pain relief for life and regular dentals when needed, as long as he can cope with the GAs. I have spoken to a nurse tonight and all things considered he is bright and taking syringe feed well. Our vet was horrified by Moths condition but has taken rather a shine to him
