Mother of bullying victim: Dont ignore signs. I think enacting Rebeccas Law is a great idea! But not just at the state level in Florida! I think it should become a national law. Bullying is a national problem that has gotten out of hand. If there is a law that would make not only the minor children criminally responsible, but also make the parents criminally and financially responsible, I think things would change for the better! Kids would be afraid to bully someone if there parents would have to pay for it monetarily and by possibly going to jail and if their own little asses could be looking at jail time! Plus parents would be more interested and concerned if theyre told their kid is bullying someone! Theyre less likely to brush it off with the pat phrase of kids will be kids if they are the ones being held responsible! Maybe then they might decide to monitor their childrens online and school behavior a little more closely! Too many parents dont think its their problem how their own children behave at school! They feel its the schools problem to deal with at school behavior issues! It is always the parents responsibility to manage their childs behavior no matter where that behavior is occurring! I think Rebeccas Law would be a step in the right direction for the future of this countrys children!
