Mothers being sent to slaughter. While some appear to be beef mums and others (the ones with the more swollen udders) appear to be dairy cows, all have had children, and all have experienced the heartbreak of being separated from their babies earlier than they should ever have to. Most of the cows we see arriving at the slaughterhouse to be killed for their flesh are a little over a year old; some would still be nursing at this age. However, even if they werent, cows, when allowed to live freely, maintain relationships with their mothers for the entirety of their lives. This is even more tragic when you consider that dairy mothers have their children ripped away from them days, sometimes hours, after their birth so that their milk can immediately be collected for human consumption. A few long-term activists with experience on farms have stated that the worst sound that they have ever heard came not from an animal dying in a slaughterhouse, but instead was the bellowing and crying of dairy mums desperately looking for their babies. Please choose veganism if you believe that mothers should be able to keep their children and to support familes of all species!
