Motivational shit incoming...... If youre squeamish to mushy Facebook posts look away now..... 2 years ago people didnt get my new direction musically. I took a massive dip in earnings and promoters didnt know what to do with me. I stuck at it because I believed what I was supporting on the radio and at my gigs would eventually make sense to people once they heard it in the right context. For the next year to 18 months or so I battled hard with people and stuck to my guns. I faced many knock backs from promoters who refused to acknowledge the fact I was doing something different and wrote me off as some kind of has-been. I took a handful of gigs with some promoters who took this standpoint and played their shows for free, to prove them wrong and show that I have a lot more to offer than they gave me credit for. I wanted to prove to them that the pool of music Im selecting from has a place in so many different musical settings which are relevant in todays club climate. 2 Months ago, one of my RADIO shows was listened to over 60,000 times on Soundcloud, In great part thanks to the fantastic guest mix from Keys N Krates who reached out to me via email explaining they were big fans of the radio show. This feels to me like proof that if you work hard and persevere through tough times you will eventually get to where you want to be. Eventually you come to realize that the people you set out to prove wrong are not the be all and end all of your route to success. Nobody is better at making things happen for you than you are yourself. And nobody can tell you what you should be doing with your life but you. So its safe to say Im excited for 2015, more optimistic and battle ready than ever.
