Motorbike/Canoe Weekend Highlights: 1) Loose bull in the middle of a country road plus two red motorbikes... Subtly terrifying? 2) Our cabin had a cabin cat!! Seriously, its name was Sergeant and it came in and cuddled by the fire while we played Magic. Omg. 3) Lost the GoPro Hero3+ somewhere among the freezing rapids. I guess that was about the time we hit the big rock and the canoe flipped, but that was all kind of a blur of not being able to breathe, save the canoe, save the canoe, the canoe is sinking, still cant breathe, dont let go of the canoe, blackness, blackness, classical music, white light, something something something, grab hold of my paddle, quick, take off all your clothes and get by the fire, etc etc. 4) Had probably the best prime rib I could ever even imagine at the Low Gap Cafe in Jasper, AR. Sometimes you find the most amazing gems in the middle of nowhere. Shared a table with a couple rock climbers from St. Louis. Felt really good to break out of the shell for a while. 5) Panicking wild elk and random sprinting deer.. Two very good reasons to always wear a helmet. Really though, Lost Valley Canoes in Ponca rented us the most adorable hillside cabin - full privacy, outdoor hot tub with a view, wood burning fireplace... Did I mention it came with a cat?? And still so simple and rustic, and totally off the grid - no phone signal, no Internet, etc... Awesome. Floating the Buffalo was incredible too. Fun and beautiful workout (till youre suddenly dying). Might give it another shot once it warms up :)
