Motorcyclists Attack Deputy Police Chief Several motorcyclists were seen throwing stones and other items on the vehicle of Deputy Police Director for Operations, Abraham Kromah. But following the throwing of stones at Deputy Director Kromah’s vehicle, officers of the Emergency Response Unit (ERU) and the Police Support Unit (PSU) urgently arrived on the scene to calm the situation. The continuous throwing of stones by motorcyclists at 72nd in Paynesville City created traffic jam on Thursday, March 13, 2014. The 40 persons believed to be motorcyclists were arrested and are currently detained at the headquarters of the Liberia National Police (LNP) on Capitol Hill in Monrovia. The motorcyclists damaged the windshield of the Deputy Police Director’s vehicle with license plate identified as RL-102. Police spokesman Sam Collins said the suspects will be investigated and subsequently taken to the court for further prosecution. According to him, the Liberia National Police will remain peaceful and people friendly at all times, but warned against attack on authorities of the LNP. It has been reported that the Deputy Police chief is one of the persons who advocated and lobbied for the ban on motorcyclists from main streets in Monrovia and its surroundings.
