Motorvation Monday - Racing Hangover Edition So comes to an end - TopicsExpress

Motorvation Monday - Racing Hangover Edition So comes to an end of the first full day back in the real world. I was fortunate enough to spend my weekend at Brainerd International Raceway for the double 7 hour CHUMPCAR World Series event. MKRacing was in a bit of disarray as a couple team members had real life obligations to fulfill, but in the end we pulled together and completed both days of racing as good as if not better than expected. Unfortunately, severe thunderstorms ended the racing prematurely on Sunday, but thats racing. I was extremely excited to finally race with all of our friends who are a part of the 365Racing.net crew, as well as see some regular faces as well. It seems like every time the usual suspects in this region show up for a race you can expect a lot of good, clean racing and a lot of respect all around. 365 Racing worked their butts off Saturday night to fix a few things on their car, and Ambitious But Rubbish was kind enough to let us use two motor mounts of theirs after we discovered both of ours were broken. Tubby Buttermans team also gave us a hand after we somehow forgot to pack a jack and jack stands. To drive the point home of what this racing is all about, 365 Racings car died at the end of the race on Saturday and I had the privilege to push them into the pits to their pit stall. Our car has had a little massaging done to it since the World Racing League race in May and it took a little getting used to. Given how the lap times of our entire team were far more competitive all around Id say the changes were very well received. I felt far more comfortable in the car with it at the limit than before. Throughout my two stints (~3.5 hours of seat time) I focused on being smooth and did all I could to use what Ive learned from Speed Secrets. (If you dont already subscribe to Speed Secrets, you really should.) Were into August now and dont have anything planned until MAPerformance Proving Grounds in early September, and Chumpcar at Road America in October. Personally still looking forward to my Evo 8 being sold and finding the car that will write the next chapter of this story. Thanks again to everyone, you know who you are. Dont stop being awesome.
