Mount Leinster Rangers GAA Club News: U12 HURLING FINAL: Our under 12 hurlers claimed the hurling county title with a fantastic win last Saturday week against Myshall. This game played at the new Centre of Excellence in Fenagh was a cracker with a huge amount of skill and passion shown on both sides. Rangers went into the game as favourites but Myshall were determined to upset the odds. The game started at a blistering pace and both teams wanted to get a foothold in the match. It was Myshall, however that had the better of the opening exchanges and lead for most of the first half, Ben Bolger, the Rangers goalie pulled of some brilliant saves to keep the Rangers boys in touch. Rangers finished the first half strongly and went in a point up at the break. In the second half, Rangers faced a strong wind and needed a huge effort to win this game. Slowly our lads, started to take control and played the better hurling for the most part. Ciarain Kavanagh kept the scoreboard ticking and we managed to keep our noses in front. However with time almost up, Myshall scored a goal to go a point up much to the delight of their supporters. Rangers didn’t panic and managed to win a free from the following puckout. We would of settled for a point and a draw but with quick thinking from Dean Tobin, saw him find Ciarain Kavanagh ( who finished the game with 3-06) in space and he brilliantly rattled the back of the net to break Myshall hearts. This was great victory for our young team and they now join our U14s as county champions for 2013. Great credit must go to their mentors Liam Coleman, Tommy Fitzpatrick and Paul Tobin for their hard work during the year, Well done lads!!
