Mourning. Mourning that weve devolved in the last 13 years. That the incredible goodwill that we received on that awful, awful day was so quickly squandered by our sabre-rattling and profiteering. That we so quickly militarized our police forces with absolutely no oversight, allowing them to use military might on innocent citizens. That our two politically parties remain so, respectively, gutless and heartless. That our President has been hamstrung even on completely common sense shit by an obstructive, racist Congress. That weve traded real, physical and spiritual connections for a technologized promise of universal connectivity that has only isolated us from one another. That weve taught our young people that its better/more important to learn to code than to learn to dream. That weve devalued the humanities and history. Mourning that our voices are drowned out by incessant bickering. Mourning that corporate money has drowned out our voices in the government anyway. Mourning that weve advanced in ways that dont matter, and devolved in ways that do. Mourning a 21st century that still has yet to arrive. Mourning, but angry instead of sad.
