Moved all of the magazine and mail off of the lanai yesterday late afternoon. Arline and I both woke up to our bedroom windows shaking this morning. It was a 4.5-magnitude earthquake. It was in the Waimea area about 30 minutes from us!! She turned to me and said, It looks like we are being hit my all of the elements!! Just before going to be there was a power outage!!! It like it was a practice run. It prompted me to find matches!! It is 9:50AM Thursday and I just got up. The wind is very gusty now. Skies are very blue. Many stars last night. Iselle is the closest and to hit this afternoon on the east side of the Big Island. It is a category 1. Julio is right behind her and is now a category 2!! Flights have been suspended. Schools are out. Many of those school are storm shelters. Hawaii has been directly hit by hurricanes only three times since 1950. In 1992, Hurricane Iniki killed six people and destroyed more than 1,400 homes in Kauai. While hurricanes in the area are rare, the islands have had 147 tropical cyclones since 1950. nydailynews/news/national/hurricanes-head-hawaii-big-island-article-1.1895204# We will try to keep you informed!
