Movember Health Tip #13 When time is of the essence and you dont have time to faff around the gym, make sure you are getting the biggest bang for your buck with your training. Whether your goal is muscle gain, strength gain OR fat loss.... including compound multi-joint movements such as squats or deadlifts at the start of the session is a good idea. Taking a squat, for example, not only utilises the quads and hamstrings, but also forces engagement of the upper body and core muscles as well. You not only utilise more energy from increased stimulation of more muscles in the body than an isolation exercise like a fixed resistance machine, but also help to increase co-ordination, strength and balance. Isolation exercises do have a place to help improve areas of weakness or target specific muscle groups but should never replace compound movements completely.
