Movement Monday: You have to learn to crawl before you walk and run. Literally. Think about crawling - its a cross body movement pattern, meaning you move your opposite hand and foot at the same time. If we flip the crawling position into an upright standing position, youll see its pretty similar to walking and running. So, if you cant properly crawl while maintaining a neutral spine, without your hips bobbing recklessly from side to side or your knees bowing out instead of moving straight up towards your chest..what makes you think you can add speed and load and execute a cross-body movement with proper mechanics while standing? The result is usually pain and injury (and remember, exercise should *not* be painful). Take time to literally build yourself a foundation from the ground up and learn how to use your body as a unit, like you did as a baby - starting with rolling, crawling, kneeling, standing, squatting - to learn how to control your body and develop stability.
