Movie Central’s Script to Screen announce third year with call for submissions now open Corus Entertainment’s Movie Central, along with the National Screen Institute – Canada (NSI), announces the call for submissions for the third year of Script to Screen. Script to Screen is a writer-oriented, feature script development program funded by Movie Central and delivered by NSI. The program selects up to five gifted writers and helps shape their ideas from the early stages of development through to a polished, production-ready script with market appeal. The call for submissions is now open to the first 200 complete applications. Selected writers will receive a development advance of up to $50,000. This year entrants are encouraged to submit family feature film proposals. To support this initiative, at least one of the five awards will go to a family-oriented project. “Script to Screen moves into its third year, with a call for submissions from emerging and established Canadian talent,” said Maria Hale, VP, Head of Content Distribution & Pay TV Corus Entertainment. “Since 2012, 10 writers have developed their scripts with support from Script to Screen. We are excited to continue partnering with NSI, while funding and supporting five new Canadian projects from concept to final draft.” “We’re pleased to continue partnering with Corus and Movie Central in delivering Script to Screen – seeing its continued demand and popularity is very rewarding,” said John Gill, CEO of the National Screen Institute. “The calibre of the submissions is always exciting and we’re looking forward to another round of quality applications this year.” The finalists selected for Script to Screen last year were Jason Filiatrault, Jessie Gabe, Ravi Steve and Jeff Geddis, Gerald Wexler and Doug Karr.
