Movie News of the day. Enjoy! LEIGH WANNELL, the writer of the first two ‘Insidious’ films, will direct the next install¬ment of the horror franchise ‘Insidious: Chapter 3’. FREESTYLE RELEASING has set an October 31st release date for ‘God the Father’, a documentary about the spiritual transformation of Michael Franzese, a former mobster who renounced his life of crime in 1987 and began redemption as a Christian. LIONSGATE will release ‘America: Imagine a World Without Her’, the sequel to the 2012 documentary ‘2016: Obama’s America’. The film opens on June 27th and expands on July 2. MGM will partner with Warners on the untitled comedy starring Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara formerly known as ‘Don’t Mess With Texas’. Witherspoon will play a police officer trying to protect a drug boss widow (Vergara) as they race across Texas. OPEN ROAD FILMS has acquired U.S. distribution rights to director Pierre Morel’s ‘The Gunman’. Sean Penn and Javier Bardem star in the action thriller about a former Special Forces operative racing across Europe trying to clear his name.
