Movie review: Mud 2 young boys find a man hiding out on a small island I was honestly excited to watch this movie. Its potential seemed very high. Did it meet my expectations? No. Was it a bad movie? Not at all. Anytime you have a movie that relies on kid actors to really carry a serious film you should be scared. Luckily the two main kids do a good job. The acting was good across the board. Its weird to say, but I just know Matthew Mcconaughey is going to give a good performance these days, and this movie is no exception. The cinematography was awesome. The shots of the water were stunning. Pulled me right into the film. I liked the plot of the film and I found it intriguing. So why didnt this movie meet my expectations? Ok, there a few issues I just couldnt get past. The first was the main boy and his love interest. He wins her over by punching a senior? A small 14 year old boy punches a senior, and the senior walks off? None of the other older kids do anything? Not buying it. I just never believed she would like him for a second. Second was that I felt like they were hinting that plot was going to thicken and it needed to, but never did. It just seemed there was more story to tell. Thirdly the snake thing was forced. Plain and simple. And lastly the ending felt weird with no one asking questions. After the craziness you would expect a lot of questions. This movie could have been classic, but stumbled in important areas. I still recommend it though. Imdb:7.5 out of 10 Rottentomatoes: 98% good reviews My score: B-
