Alan Orange Leprechaun: Origins director Zach Lipovsky, a discovery of Steven Spielberg, has been tapped to direct Legendary Digitals Dead Rising video game adaptation. Dead Rising is being produced by Transformers producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura for Legendary Entertainment and Crackle. The 90-minute movie will be based on the popular Capcom game series, and marks the first release from Legendary Digital Media Dead Rising will debut exclusive in the U.S. on Crackle before coming to SVOD, VOD, DVD and TV. Content Media Corp. is distributing the feature length project overseas as both a stand-alone movie and in an episodic format. Dead Rising tells the story of an epic zombie outbreak that has continued to rage after a government sanctioned vaccine failed to stop the epidemic. The game originally debuted in 2006 for the Xbox 360 and has spawned a franchise, selling 6.5 million units worldwide. Tim Carter is writing and producing alongside Tomas Harlan through their Contradiction Films production house, the same team responsible for Machinimas hit web series Mortal Kombat: Legacy. Legendary Digital Medias former president of content and distribution, Tom Lesinski, previously stated: [Dead Rising]s built-in fan base and rich characters and plot lines are ideal for digital storytelling. Crackle and Content are adept at distributing cutting-edge digital content. Zach Lipovsky, a VFX veteran, was discovered on the short-lived reality TV series On the Lot, produced by Steven Spielberg. He went onto direct Leprechaun: Origins, which will get a limited theatrical debut this weekend before heading to the home market. Zach Lipovsky also produced Afflicted, a low budget horror movie that earned rave reviews earlier in the year. Dead Rising will be released in 2015.
