Moving on to the next artist in the Golden Decade of Music - TopicsExpress

Moving on to the next artist in the Golden Decade of Music 1965-1974, where I am selecting the artists alphabetically and playing selections of their songs I liked or found influential from that Golden Decade. I am currently in the Cs and will play a few from The Classics IV, a band formed in Jacksonville, FL, that is often credited for establishing the soft southern rock sound. The band started as a cover band consisting of guitarists Buddy Buie, J.R. Cobb, Walter Eaton, keyboardist Joe Wilson, and singer Dennis Yost. When their hits started Yost left the drums to move out as the front man for the band with drummer Kim Venable taking his spot on the kit. The song I’m selecting first from the Classics IV was their first charted hit ‘Spooky’, as song that started as a regional jazz instrumental hit for Atlanta saxophonist Mike Sharpe to which guitarists Cobb and Buie added lyrics to it, which made it a #3 hit on Billboard’s Hot 100. https://youtube/watch?v=cUf4F9VXo_s
