Moving story and photos of a famous African elephant herd gunned - TopicsExpress

Moving story and photos of a famous African elephant herd gunned down for ivory 24 hours after this photo was taken. Grandmother, mothers, daughters murdered by heartless evil men. Elephant activists, such as Rosemary Alles and Linda Bronfman, are trying to stop the ivory trade (which mostly occurs in China -- a middle-class status thing, like shark-fin soup). One cannot help but be moved by the incredible beauty of elephants, this ancient species, the largest land animals, who communicate in a rumble that is below the threshold of human hearing, who travel in matriarchal clans, who love and dote on their young, whose elders have great wisdom, and whose very existence is now threatened by greed. Rosemary Alles will join Animal Rights Academy to discuss these issues, this Thurs. Dec. 4th, 7 pm, OISE rm 2281 (252 Bloor W), Toronto.
