Mr. Al Wiebe was my jr high and high school mentor. He saw and encouraged the creative free thinker in me and inspired everyone he met through his kind, outgoing nature. He gave enough freedom to kindle the flame of responsibility. He ran a food bank out of his high school shop room and gave me dishes, pots and pans for my first apartment. He lovingly chided me for poor decisions but never made me feel ashamed. He has kept in touch all these years, never failing to encourage me when I am down and congratulate me when I succeed. With a mixture of shock, sadness and relief I am absorbing his passing, having left this earth to return to the stars on the same day I entered it. Enjoy the journey Al... you certainly left this world a better place.
