Mr Andrews said no one should expect CFA crews to be doorknocking homes when they are trying to fight fires. Last-minute planning, waiting to see, that can be fatal, he said. There were 4,500 fires across the state last summer and despite recent rain, forecasts indicate this summer will be a more active fire season. All of our advice is that it will be a long, hot, dry and dangerous summer, he said.
