Mr. Ban Ki-moon, Today, two more political prisoners died in Egypt as a result of brutal torture—two more innocent human beings--fathers, brothers, husbands--who have not been charged with a crime before a court of law. How can you accept to meet with someone like El-Sisi who continues to commit crimes against humanity every single day? Your call to free political prisoners in Egypt seems hollow and in some way hypocritical, because you “know” he will not listen to you. It would have been a much better sign of disapproval of his criminal behavior if you had refused to meet with him altogether and informed the world why you had chosen that path. If the UN is to survive as a credible institution in a civilized world, it has to save human lives; it has to condemn torture and torturers; it has to impose real sanctions on terroristic governments. Else, we are just living in a jungle and the UN becomes part of it!
