Mr. Charles Edward “Eddie” Colbert, age 56, of Summerville, GA, died suddenly on Sunday, November 30, 2014, at Redmond Regional Medical Center. Mr. Colbert was born February 22, 1958, the son of Charles Edward “Buddy” Colbert, SR. and Nena Alva Martin Colbert. He attended Dry Valley Baptist Church. He was formerly employed with Summerville Police Department and Dade County Sheriff’s Department. He was currently the chief investigator of Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Mr. Colbert was preceded in death by a sister, Tina Colbert. Survivors include his wife, Melissa Seymore Colbert, Summerville, GA; parents, Charles “Buddy” and Nena Martin Colbert, Summerville, GA; children, Doug Colbert, Summerville, GA, Jeremy and Olga Willingham, El Paso, TX, Casey and David Daniel, Calhoun, GA, Amanda and Chris Watson, Cartersville, GA, and Jana and Jamie Allen; Calhoun, GA; sister, Kathy and Terry Day, Menlo, GA; 10 Grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p. m. Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Alton Stamey and Rev. Kevin Woods officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be John Phillip Robinson, Levi Robinson, Joe Reed, B. J. Montgomery, Harold Tucker, Eddie Stroup, Wes Maddux, and Jeff Maddux. Honorary pallbearers will be all employees of the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department, the Summerville Police Department, Trion Police Department, and Chattooga County 911. Mr. Colbert will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p. m. Tuesday, December 2, 2014.
