To render Avatar(the film), Weta Digital used a 10,000 sq. ft server farm making use of 4,000 Hewlett Packard servers with 35,000 processor cores with 104 Terabytes of RAM and 3 Petabytes of network area storage running ubuntu linux, Grid engine cluster manager and 2 of the animation software and managers, Pixars Renderman and Pixars Alfred queue management system. The render farm occupies 193rd and 197th most powerful supercomputers. Microsoft created a new cloud computing and Digital asset management(DAM) system named Gaia for Avatar to allow the crews to keep track of and coordinate all stages of digital processing. Each minute of final footage for Avatar occupied 17.28 GB of storage space. Budget was 3,000 crore and it took 5 years #BaapReBaap
